Families & Children to Prosper

  • Ireland is an expensive country in which to live and raise a family.

  • The housing crisis and the high cost of living act as a deterrent to family formation.

What We Will Do

  • Prioritise young couples and families with local connections on social housing waiting lists.

  • Support the establishment of public banking in Ireland to reduce the cost of mortgages.

  • Reform the income tax system to include child tax credits.

  • Link maternity and paternity leave to employment income and cover the first 2-years of the child’s life.

  • Reduce the cost of childcare by the state taking on the responsibility for paying creche staff.

  • Introduce tax-exempt savings accounts for children that they can access after their 21st birthday.

  • Reduce the cost of primary and secondary education by increasing school capitation grants and introducing measures to reduce the cost of uniforms and books.
